Martindale-Hubbell is a national firm which specializes in rating attorneys based upon their qualifications, experience and ethical standards and provides published materials identifying and listing attorneys throughout the United States. It is the most highly regarded publication and rating service of it’s kind.

The Martindale-Hubbell legal ability ratings are: “C” (from Good to High), “B” (from High to Very High) and “A” (from Very High to Preeminent. The ethical standards rating, the highest that is granted, is: “V” (Very High). For the legal ability rating, Martindale-Hubbell takes into consideration experience, nature of practice and qualifications relevant to the profession. For the ethical standards rating, Martindale-Hubbell considers whether the attorney meets professional standards of conduct and ethics of the legal profession, shows professional reliability and diligence, relevant to the attorney’s discharge of his or her professional responsibilities.

The highest rating is given the designation “AV.” Ed Foley and Doug Small each have been giving the highest rating by Martindale-Hubbell.
